Summer Activities

I love the summer! I'm so excited that the pool opened up over the weekend. I've got JJ signed up for swimming lessons, and in a couple weeks he is going to start t-ball. On Monday we went to the elementary school, where there are always balls left out by the school kids. JJ had so much fun playing soccer with Spencer. He was really good at dribbling the ball, and I thought I should get him in soccer too. I can't believe my little guy is to this point, come fall he'll be in preschool. Aaaah!!!

We've got ourselves a crawler

Eva has figured out crawling really quick, she's going going going. We have two little stairs going into our living room, she can navigate those pretty well. She likes to crawl up to our fireplace hearth, she pulls herself up to try and find all the treasures that brother has there. JJ and I were "playing" connect 4 the other day, Eva shot across the room so fast to get the pieces. I've got to watch out for this one, she's going to be a trouble maker!

JJ is so cute yesterday I was watering some flowers I'd planted and he asked me, "Are you watering the plants Jesus made us?" I often wonder about his thoughts and what leads him to ask certain questions or say certain things. I think he is a deep thinker. Last week we were eating lunch and for some reason I said both. JJ said, "Both like wolf", it blew me away. It's just amazing that he just picks up on rhyming. I guess it's like watching a little one learn to crawl, somehow they just figure it out on their own.

We need your support!

The John Pratt family will be participating in the Utah Vision Walk. The walk is to build awareness for eye diseases and to raise money for cures. John has RP, and may be blind someday. This is a hereditary disease, Spencer has to be tested for every few years. This also effects my children and our future grandchildren, and so on.
I would love for you to help my spread the word! Will you post this link on your blog? Thank you!

Our Journal

On Sunday we talked about writing in a journal. When I was asked if I keep a journal, I said ya, I have a blog and scrapbooks. It's not like my Grandma's 19 hand written journals, but it is the record of our lives.

This story is a little sad, but Spencer and I really wanted to remember it, so here it is on our blog. Last monday my cousin Lisa got married. She had her reception at Le Jardin which is a flower shop at the cemetery where my Dad is buried. I had cut a tulip from our yard to put on his grave while we were there. We knew JJ would ask questions about what we were doing, so we thought it would be appropriate time to talk about it. We've talked about my Dad before, so we didn't think it would be a big deal. We told him we were going to visit Mommy's Daddy's grave, and that he died, and his is with Jesus. JJ was almost inconsolable. We was mad, sad, and crying his eyes out. To make him feel better Spencer suggested we pray for him that night that he would be happy with Jesus. I did not want to remind him, so I didn't say anything, but he remembered. So that night he prayed that Grandpa Del would be happy with Jesus. So that explained it, he thought his Grandpa Del died. Grandpa Del is my step Dad, he has never met my Dad. It really made me realize the love he has for his Grandma's and Grandpa's. It also really got me thinking about my Dad, and I felt like he experienced the pain I've felt all my life. There is not a day that goes by that I didn't wish I had my Dad around. But the thing that's always got me through it is the promise of eternal families. What could be better?

Dreams

So last night I had a seemingly good dream, when I woke up I tried to remember what it was about, but I couldn't remember anything. Doesn't that drive you crazy? I also wanted to share a conversation JJ had about his dream.
"Mom, I dreamed about a bear last night. It was a nice bear though."
I asked, "What color was the bear."
"It was red."
"What was it doing?"
"Um, playing baseball"
I thought that was funny.
This is the result of taking a picture of JJ in his fire hat everyday for a month.

Our little Eva is crawling forward now. On Sunday we got together with my family, while we were there my brother played peek-a-bo with Eva. It was so cute because she would squeeze her eyes shut then open them really wide, all while smiling, it was so cute! I think she might be teething, she's been a bear. If it's not one thing, it's another.
